Responsible Coaching Movement

The South Huron Soccer Club has made a commitment to the Responsible Coaching Movement to ensure that we are creating a playing environment that is Safe, Smart and Secure. As Responsible Coaching Movement Champions, we mandate that all coaches have an appropriate background screening, complete ethics training and follow the Rule of Two guidelines. Coaching Certification Requirements

The majority of teams (both in-house and travel) are registered under the Grassroots and Community (Tier 3) streams. The coaching requirements for these teams are found below:

  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
    • An official letter will be issued by the club and the record check is completed online
  • Canada Soccer Grassroots Coaching Education - Coaching Soccer in Canada Module ONLY
    • The module can be found online
  • Respect in Sport Activity Leader Program
    • The module can be found online
    • Courses completed with other organizations are valid if the certification has not expired
  • South Huron Soccer Club Coaches Code of Conduct and Ethics

If you are coaching a team registered in the competitive stream (Tier 1 or 2), please contact the coach coordinator for more information on your additional certification requirements. Any associated certification fees will be reimbursed by the club.

 

Game Cancellation Policy

  • In-House Teams (U3, U4, U6 and U8)
    • In-house coaches cannot cancel games for any reason
    • The South Huron Soccer Club president can cancel games due to weather or field conditions
    • Referees can cancel U8 games due to weather or field conditions at the start of the game
  • Travel Teams (U9+)
    • Travel coaches cannot cancel games for any reason
    • The South Huron Soccer Club president or a South Huron municipality representative can cancel games due to weather or field conditions
    • Referees can cancel games due to weather or field conditions at the start of the game if both teams are present
    • If a coach wants to reschedule a game in advance, the president can request the change at the league level. If the change is not granted, the game will be played at the original scheduled date and time. If the change is granted, the league scheduler will issue a new date and time.
